Just my 2 cents here. If all you want to do is to is to describe the traffic light states of the check marks, this is what I would do:
- Change the red one from a check mark to an x in a red circle, illustrating the no-go state
- Change the yellow icon to an exclamation point, so it is clear from the image that this needs attention.
- Only the green state gets a check mark.
That also allows color blind people to discern the states because they have different icons.
What your original question sounds like is a 'legend'. Just add a line under the list with the images and their meaning. It should fit from the screenshot. No button required.
